The Danforth Neighbourhood of Toronto

The Danforth is known as Toronto’s Greektown. You will find some of the best souvlaki and baklava in this neighbourhood. Beyond the plethora of Greek restaurants, this stretch of the Danforth has a vast array of international cuisine, brew pubs, boutique shops and so much more. Check out a concert at the Danforth Music Hall, one of the oldest surviving theatres in Toronto dating back to 1919.
The Danforth has been a popular neighbourhood for first time home buyers as the area begins to gentrify, Danforth homes for sale are more affordable but are growing steadily with the hot Toronto housing market. The area is charming and connected and has a small-town community vibe. There are also many parks nearby including Riverdale and Withrow parks.

Housing and Accommodations

HISTORY

The Danforth is commonly referred to as Toronto’s Greektown having been the major settling area for Greek immigrants after World War 1. Some of the buildings along Danforth Road date back to 1910. The area of Greektown became popular for its many traditional Green restaurants and has now evolved to be a go-to area for a number of international cuisines.
